Teaching Philosophy

I believe music has the power to enrich lives at every stage, and that every student can grow through thoughtful instruction, encouragement, and consistent practice. Learning an instrument develops not only technical skill and artistry but also perseverance, discipline, creativity, and confidence—qualities that extend far beyond music.

My goal is to create a positive, engaging, and supportive learning environment where students of all ages feel inspired to learn. I emphasize a strong technical foundation, a beautiful tone, expressive musicianship, and joyful music-making while tailoring each lesson to the individual needs, interests, and aspirations of every student. Whether a student is pursuing music professionally or simply playing for personal fulfillment, I am committed to helping them reach their fullest potential and cultivate a lifelong love of music.

Experience

I am a Suzuki-certified cello teacher through all ten books and completed two years of long-term Suzuki teacher training at the Cleveland Institute of Music, where I earned a minor in Suzuki Pedagogy alongside my performance degree.

I currently serve as Orchestra Director at Academe of the Oaks, where I lead a chamber orchestra and help students develop their ensemble skills and musical artistry. I have taught students of all ages and experience levels in both in-person and online lessons. I enjoy working with young beginners, advancing students, adult learners, and serious pre-professional musicians alike. Whether a student is playing their very first notes or preparing advanced repertoire, I strive to provide thoughtful, individualized instruction that supports each person’s unique goals and musical growth.
